Hi, I want to show a chart contains sale

Hi, I want to show a chart contains sales by day/week/month/quarter/year as x axis, total sales by y axis. My problem is i want to choose an option Day/Week/Month/Quarter/Year based the selected option query to work accordingly. Any one please help me for writing this type of query. Thanks in advance.
