Stumbled on to this post and it has lightened my Friday afternoon. Add to this list the following - Dimensions have far too many attributes > 100 that the Users will never ever use. - Different Dimension have the same attribute (such as district) and the two are never the same. - Surrogate Key overload. There are four values for a dimension key. But as the natural key linking it to the fact has 100 different key values the consultant does not use that he goes for a surrogate key which is created every time the natural key changes and before you know it there are tens of thousands. - The worst I have seen is four weeks of a consultant and he got nowhere as he just blagged it. All of this makes it easier and more difficult for me to get work.
