Cube Date Dimension Filter not Working in Excel

It is possible that your cube might seem to behave properly until you add a date filter while browsing in Excel. If so you need to check the ValueColumn property for the Key attribute for your date dimension. It is found at the bottom of the properties window for the Dimension Attribute.
